Stanage Edge - Photography Week 37 (2016)

There was a lovely light on Stanage Edge during photography week 37 and a distinct early autumnal atmosphere. The summer greens were starting to lose their intensity with patches of rustic colour emerging. A hazy mist hung over the landscape diffusing the warm evening sunlight - a great time to be out with the camera.

The results start with a series of rock compositions at the northern most end of Stanage Edge including the Cowper Stone (3rd image). At this point the sun was struggling behind some slow moving clouds and there was little direct light:






Eventually the sun emerged and I continued the focus on rock features along the Edge:









I stopped at one my favourite rock pools on Stanage Edge as the sun was about to drop below the horizon and then completed an enjoyable trip with some afterglow shots of the Stanage millstones:
