Winter on the Southwell Trail - Part 3

'Bare trees and brown grass' is not the most camera grabbing description of winter. It doesn't inspire in the same way that the changing colours of autumn or new growth in spring might do. That said, winter photography can be just as impactful, particularly when combined with some late afternoon sunlight.









I find the branching patterns of trees fascinating and winter, of course, is the best time to view them in detail. Again, good winter light helps the photography:






Finally, not all the trees along the trail are in winter mode and there are plenty of hazel catkins on show:
