Winter on the Southwell Trail - Part 4

There was a severe frost in early January with needle-like ice crystals forming a ground level and whilst this was a good opportunity for close-up photography, it was challenging to capture this type of fine detail with a compact camera.

Making sure the results were sharp was the main issue. Not only was there a shallow depth of field but it was hard to handhold the camera and select a precise point of focus. In the end it was a bit click and hope but I was happy with the results:










Some wider angle shots show the frost lined trail and provide some context for the images shown above. Although further along the trail it was totally frost free:
