Chinese Bell Tower Abstracts - February 2018

The following images are abstracts from the Chinese Bell Tower in Nottingham Arboretum. The tower sits on a platform of inscribed pink sandstone commemorating the siege of Sebastol during the Crimean War (1859) and the Anglo-Chinese 'Opium' Wars (1857-1861). Some of the inscription had weathered and faded but what really caught my eye was the array of colours and textures in the stone:
